HB12-1303

HB12-1303 - DORA Certify Speech-language Pathologists

Passed/Signed into Law
Concerning The Regulation Of Speech-Language Pathologists By The Department Of Regulatory Agencies.

On and after July 1, 2013, the bill requires speech-language pathologists to obtain a certification from the division of registrations (division) in the department of regulatory agencies in order to practice speech-language pathology in Colorado. The director of the division is tasked with oversight, regulation, and discipline of speech-language pathologists. An exemption from the certification requirement is provided for speech-language pathologists who are licensed and speech-language pathology assistants who are authorized by the Colorado department of education and who provide speech-language pathology services that are paid for by an administrative unit or state-operated program, as those terms are defined in the "Exceptional Children's Educational Act".
