Be It Resolved by the Senate of the Seventieth General Assembly of the State of Colorado, the House of Representatives concurring herein:
(1) That, pursuant to the provision of section 2-2-305, Colorado Revised Statutes, the following positions are hereby created for the Second Regular Session of the Seventieth General Assembly with the monthly compensation to be paid to the persons elected or appointed to each position in the range set opposite the position:

*The Secretary of the Senate and the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives are authorized to hire Legislative Aides pursuant to Joint Rule 39 of the House of Representatives and the Senate. If Legislative Aides are authorized by the Executive Committee, acting in accordance with such Joint Rule 39, to start prior to the convening of the next regular session, they may be paid at the rate specified in this resolution from the date they are authorized to start.
(2) That the Secretary of the Senate and the Chief Clerk of the House of Representatives remain in such capacity after adjournment of the General Assembly sine die until the convening of the First Regular Session of the Seventy-first General Assembly in January, 2017.
(3) That the Chairman of the Senate Services Committee, with the authorization of the President, and the Chairman of the House Services Committee, with the authorization of the Speaker, are hereby separately authorized to retain and hire replacements for such employees for such period of time in the interim between the Second Regular Session of the Seventieth General Assembly and the First Regular Session of the Seventy-First General Assembly as they deem necessary for their respective houses; except that the office equipment of the General Assembly and the services of such employees shall be used only in connection with official legislative business.
(4) That the Chairman of the Senate Services Committee, with the authorization of the President, and the Chairman of the House Services Committee, with the authorization of the Speaker, are hereby separately authorized to hire such session-only employees for the next regular session as they deem necessary for their respective houses and who may start their employment on the date authorized.
(5) That the officers and the employees referred to in subsections (2) through (4) of this resolution shall be compensated for their services at the rate specified for such positions during the Second Regular Session of this Seventieth General Assembly, as may be modified by any salary survey adjustments and merit increases to become effective during the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2016 , which are approved by the President of the Senate for officers and employees of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives for officers and employees of the House of Representatives. All such compensation shall be paid from moneys appropriated for such purposes by the Seventieth General Assembly.
